China National Nuclear Corporation

China National Nuclear Corporation (English: CNNC, abbreviated as China National Nuclear Corporation or CNNC in Chinese) is an important state-owned backbone enterprise (central enterprise) funded and established by the Chinese state, approved by the State Council and directly managed by the central government. 


On July 1, 1999, CNNC was established by reorganizing the ten major military industrial groups on the basis of the country's five former administrative military industrial corporations.On January 31, 2018, after reporting to the State Council for approval, CNNC and China National Nuclear Construction Corporation (CNCC) implemented a reorganization in which CNCC as a whole was transferred to CNNC without compensation. Ltd. and is no longer under the direct supervision of SASAC.


CNNC is composed of more than 100 enterprises, institutions and research institutes, with about 100,000 employees, including 36,000 professional and technical talents, and 16 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Engineering.


In November 2018, CNNC vigorously developed nuclear technology application industry, expanded the application of nuclear technology in medical, biological, agricultural, environmental protection and other fields, and some application products went international. In April 2020, CNNC was selected as one of the "Science Reform Demonstration Enterprises" by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and an A-grade enterprise in the business performance assessment of the person in charge of central enterprises in 2020.


On July 13, 2021, the multifunctional modular small pressurized water reactor (ACP100) developed by China National Nuclear Industry Corporation (CNNC) with independent intellectual property rights was officially opened in Changjiang nuclear power base in Hainan.
